Winning at Online Poker takes three main things:

1. Knowing your oppontent
2. Play only strong starting hands in proper position and know the odds
3. Playing disciplined

Knowing your opponent

If you have played a lot of live texas holdem poker you know that knowledge of players tendenacies and tells are critical to winning, almost more important than the cards. Well online you can't see the player, you can't look them in the eye. But now you can look at his tendancies from a statistical perspective. Does he chase all the way to the river each time and then fold? (if so you know you can bet him hard at the river and he will normally fade) Does he only go the distance if he knows he can win? (If so you know that if he is in then he has you beat). This kind of statistical data is priceless after playing at a table for a few hours. Here is what you will see in terms of player stats:

VP$IP (Voluntary Put Money In Pot): Percentage of games a player voluntarily puts Money in the pot pre-flop. Blinds do not count unless a player completes small blind or calls a raise or raises from either blind. It measures a player's tightness/looseness, which helps indicate the range of hands that the player will see a flop with.

AF (Aggression Factor): It measures a player's aggression/passivity, which represents the player's betting tendencies after the flop. Holdem Indicator provides a combined AF for flop, turn, and river. If a player makes some raises and bets but never calls, the AF will be displayed as Inf , which means "infinite".

PFR: Pre-flop raise percentage.

WSD: To further categorize aggressive players, we use "Went to Showdown %" to measure whether a player is Solid or Overplay. It is based on the hands when saw flop. Opponents Stats will be collected even if you're sitting out. This data is kept locally on your computer and will be loaded automatically next time when you're sitting with the same player.

Strong Starting Hands

This is a common rule and one that should be adhered to if one is to become a successful online poker player. This is due to the fact that most online players are involved in way to many pots and see way too many flops, mainly with marginal to weak. Holdem Indicator will indicate which hands have been statistically shown to win more than loose. Now there are many variables involved including position at the table but this feature is a great indicator of the strength of your cards.

Knowing Your Odds

Ok, now for the poker hand odds. Would you think it was an advantage to know the % odds of your opponent having a flush when you are holding a straight in your hand? Of course you would.
